Air North Sports Fare Program

The Sports Fare Program offers discounted flights to athletes, coaches, officials, and family members.

For all out-of-territory swim meets:

  1. WGB will submit a group request for the Sport Fare Program (through Sport Yukon and Air North).
  2. To gain access to this benefit,  please include the full legal name(s) of each person traveling in the ‘Note’ section (eg. parents, guardians, siblings, other family traveling with athlete)
  3. Once the application has been approved, a confirmation email will be sent to attending families. 
    1. Families have the responsibiliry to call Air North and confirm the reservation andcomplete payment
    2. Please note: The Sport Fare rate is not guaranteed.
  4. Late submissions will not be accepted after the registration deadline.

Tip: Watch for Air North seat sales — they’re often cheaper than the Sport Fare rate.

Lotteries Yukon Travel Assistance Program (TAP)

TAP helps cover travel costs for sport, recreation, and arts participants.

Applications are submitted by WGB through Sport Yukon; families do not apply directly

Key Details:

  • Up to $400 per trip outside Yukon
  • Up to $200 per trip within Yukon (or to Alaska, NWT, or Nunavut)
  • Eligible for up to 3 trips/year per swimmer (1 outside + 2 in Yukon/nearby)
  • Coaches are eligible for $200 per trip, with no limit on number of trips
  • TAP funds are distributed via cheque by Swim Yukon, once they have received the funding by Lotteries Yukon
Kids Rec Fund


Administered by Sport Yukon for Yukon families with low income (children under 18)

Key Details:

  • Up to $400 per child per year for program registration, equipment, camps, and other recreational activities

Deadlines: Ongoing; applications accepted year-round

Jumpstart

Jumpstart is for Canadian families with financial need (children ages 4–18) to help with:

  • Registration fees for sport or physical activity
  • Equipment and gear
  • Some programs also offer funding for transportation

Deadlines: Two main funding rounds per year, but exact dates may vary - typically Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter

Athlete Participation Fund

Administered by Sport Yukon, for athletes who qualify for a Territorial or National Championship. Must show financial need and support from a sport governing body

Deadlines: Ongoing, but apply prior to travel

Jamie Shaw Memorial Fund


Administered by Sport Yukon, for dedicated Yukon athletes demonstrating strong work ethic and commitment to support their development or travel for sport.

Funds are awarded based on athletic merit and character

Deadline: December 31

Aboriginal Sport Legacy Fund


Administered by Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle (YASC), for athletes, teams, coaches, officials, and sport organizations in the Yukon to help with:

  • Equipment purchases
  • Hosting events
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Travel to competitions or training camps

Deadlines: Applications are reviewed quarterly (April 1, July 1, October 1, January 1)

High Performance Athlete Assistance Program

Administered by Yukon Government – Sport and Recreation Branch, for Yukon athletes competing at national or international levels.

Must be full-time residents of Yukon and meet sport-specific criteria

Deadline: October 1
