Welcome to WGB's Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is made up of dedicated volunteers from within our community who are passionate about supporting the mission and future of the Whitehorse Glacier Bears Swim Club. Working behind the scenes, the Board helps guide important decisions, set long-term goals, and ensure that we continue to operate in a responsible, transparent, and sustainable way.
Board Members work together to represent the interests of our members, provide leadership and direction, and help plan for the continued growth and success of our programs and services. While the day-to-day activities of the organization are managed by staff and volunteers, the Board focuses on the bigger picture, helping to make sure we remain financially sound, well-governed, and responsive to the needs of our community.
We are grateful for the time, energy, and commitment our Board Members contribute in support of creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Director at Large: Andrew Richardson
Originally from Nova Scotia, I'm father to three Glacier Bears--Hugh, Harriet and Freddy--as well as two standard poodles, who don't seem interested in swimming at all. I moved to the Yukon in 2006 to teach English at Yukon College; since 2014, I've been Yukon University's dean of Applied Arts. When I'm avoiding work, you can find me skiing, trail running, mountain biking, kayaking/canoeing, camping, or reading; back in the day, you might've found me drumming, too.

Director at Large: Eloise Noble
I'm Eloise, mom of swimmer, Norah who has been a bear since 2024. I am currently in my second year as a member at large on the board of directors. I have previous experience in a variety of roles on other boards including Vice President and Registrar of Chickadees Playschool and Secretary of Issatik Co-op. I bring a passion for supporting my community and the organizations that help my family and community thrive. Norah loves being part of the WGB team and the thrill of racing to achieve her personal bests.

Director at Large: Pierre Marchand
Pierre Marchand is a proud swim dad. When he’s not watching laps, he’s usually outside skiing, biking, canoeing, or finding any excuse to escape to the mountains. Pierre works for the Yukon Government and hopes to use his skills to help the club stay organized and thriving. Mostly, he just wants happy swimmers, supportive families, and a team that keeps making a splash - on purpose!

Director at Large: Hayley Henderson
I have been involved with the Glacier Bears dating back to 1980 when I moved to the Yukon and joined the club as a competitive swimmer….I was 10 years old. After all these years, it brings me great pleasure to still be an active member of our club and watch it grow along with our amazing, excelling athletes. As a parent of a Silver Tip and as a director of the board, I continue to be proud of our team, our swim community and to represent the WGB’s….go Bears!!!

Director at Large: Kim Welch
This is Kim's second year on the board. Kim is mum to Hudson and Naya, who both swim in Brown Bears. She is also a member of the Graylings Masters swim team.
