Bronwyn

Executive Director

Born and raised in Whitehorse, Bronwyn’s swimming journey began right here with the Whitehorse Glacier Bears (WGB). From those early days as a Bear, she went on to represent Team Yukon, Team British Columbia, and Team Canada on national and international stages.
Her swimming career took her to Indiana University on a full athletic scholarship, where she competed at the NCAA Division I level, earning Big Ten championship titles and All-America honours while completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. She later competed at the 2016 Canadian Olympic Trials, finishing her career as a nationally carded athlete with performances ranked among the top 50 in the world.
Bronwyn returned home to Whitehorse and began coaching with WGB in 2017, becoming Head Coach in 2022 and Executive Director in 2023. She also holds a professional designation in Human Resources, bringing together her experience in high-performance sport, leadership, and organizational development.
Today, Bronwyn is focused on building a thriving swim program that gives Yukon athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves, discover their potential, and see just how far swimming can take them.

Eloise

Membership Engagement Lead

I’m Eloise, and I’ve been involved with the Whitehorse Glacier Bears since January 2024, when my daughter, Norah, joined Teddies. Since then, I’ve become very involved with the club as a member of the Board of Directors, and now taking on the role of Membership Engagement. I have enjoyed being part of the growth of the club over the past few years. Seeing the athletes crush their goals, encouraging each other and of course engaging with all our wonderful WGB families brings me a sense of pride in the community that has been built.

Coaches

Hayleigh

Lead Coach-Competitive & Pre-Competitive
Silvertips & Kodiaks

Hayleigh grew up swimming in the warm waters of Ontario lakes, and the (freezing) cold waters of the Ottawa U pool. A proud alumni of the Greater Ottawa Kingfish, she swam 4 years with the University of Guelph and was captain in her last year, capping off an incredibly fun and rewarding swimming career full of backstroke successes and breaststroke DQ's. She is thrilled to have found her way back to the pool deck as a coach, and to be starting her 5th season with the Glacier Bears, coaching Silvertips and Kodiaks. The Whitehorse swimming community has been so welcoming and kind, and she can't wait for another exciting season - full of the most beautiful streamlines anyone North of 60 has ever seen!! 🐻

Chelsey

Grizzlies & Polar Bears

Like many Aussies, she took up swimming to learn some basic survival skills—after all, in Australia, having a backyard pool or hitting the beach is just part of life. What started as a practical skill quickly turned into a passion. At a young age, she fell in love with the sport and began training and following that famous black line back and forth the pool.
She swam with Melbourne Vicentre, one of Victoria’s top swim clubs, which has produced a number of Olympians, Commonwealth Games and Pan Pac Swimmers. Over the years, she competed in loads of competitions around Australia, snagging medals at the Shell All Junior and State Age Championships, (Provincials)  and even qualifying for Australian Age Nationals. She also proudly represented her school as House Swimming Captain and dabbled in water polo. Her parents owned a swimming pool business, teaching kids of all ages and abilities how to swim — and running water aerobics classes for adults.
She’s definitely missing those Australian summers and can’t wait to visit again. When she’s not in the pool or dreaming of the beach, she loves hanging out with her husband and their adorable dogs.

Brown Bears

I have been a swimmer with the Whitehorse Glacier Bears for four years and have been coaching for two. I am currently still a member of the team and my primary swimming events are the 50m and 100m breaststroke. I am also a provincial medallist and have represented Team Yukon at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. In my coaching role, I believe it is important to balance fun with hard work. This year, I am coaching the Brown Bears group and am eager to see everyone return to the pool.

Aubree

Gummy Bears 2 & 5, Teddies 2 & 5, Cubs 2 & 5

I’ve been part of the club since 2021 and started coaching in 2024. I swam competitively with the Silvertip group for several years before deciding to join Grizzlies, our non-competitive group, this year. I currently coach some of our younger groups, including Gummies, Teddies, and Cubs. One of the biggest reasons I started coaching was to get to know our younger swimmers. Since then, I’ve enjoyed getting to know more of my team, watching them improve, and having fun with them at practice!

Nimrin

Teddies 3, Cubs 3

I’ve been swimming with the club for the past 8 years, and swimming has always been a really big part of my life. It has taught me discipline, perseverance responsibly and  confidence. Most importantly, swimming has given me my bestfriends and best memories! I’ve had the opportunity to compete at different levels throughout my swimming career including representing Yukon at the 2025 Canada Summer Games. This is my second year coaching and I currently coach the Teddies and Cubs groups. As a junior coach my goals are: helping young swimmers build confidence, develop their skills and have a positive time on the pool deck.  I hope to share my love of swimming with them and help them create the same great memories that swimming has given me.

Meghan

Gummy Bears

I have been part of the club since I was 6 years old starting as a swimmer, and have been a coach on and off since high school. Some of my favourite memories growing up have been on the pool deck and with my teammates.
Outside of coaching, I continue to swim with the Graylings, and I enjoy getting outside, reading, and playing trivia!
I am excited to continue sharing my love of swimming and help young swimmers build confidence, skills, and a lifelong appreciation for the sport.
See you on the deck!
