We are excited to invite all Gummy Bears, Teddy Bears, and Cubs to join us on Saturday, November 21, 2026, for the Ryan Downing JAMBOREE!

What is a Jamboree?

A Jamboree is a fun, low-pressure introduction to swim meets designed especially for our newer and developing swimmers in the pre-competitive roster group (Gummy Bears, Teddy Bears and Cubs).

The goal is a "mini" swim meet, where athletes get to experience what competition is all about; lining up for their races, hearing the starter, swimming in front of spectators, cheering on teammates, and getting a feel for the excitement of a real meet.

The difference? The focus is on learning, participation, and having fun, not results.

With coaches there to guide them along the way, swimmers can become familiar with how a meet works in a comfortable and supportive environment.

Event Details

The Jamboree will take place between sessions of the Ryan Downing Memorial Invitational Swim Meet, giving our youngest swimmers the opportunity to see a competition in action before having their own turn to race.

The Saturday morning preliminary session begins at 9:00 AM and is expected to finish around 11:00 AM. Jamboree participants and their families are encouraged to come early to watch the races and cheer on our WGB swimmers.

All Jamboree participants should arrive in their swimsuits and ready to swim by 10:45 AM. Once the morning session concludes, coaches will gather the Jamboree swimmers for a brief warm-up before the fun begins!

Session is ESTIMATED to time out around 1:30 PM

Order of Events

Can my Athlete Participate in Ryan Downing AND the Jamboree?

Yes. Athletes may participate in both events; however, separate meet fees apply to each event, and families who register for both will be responsible for both fees.

The Jamboree is intended to provide newer and developing swimmers with an introduction to the swim meet experience, while the Ryan Downing Invitational offers athletes the experience of participating in a full competition. For this reason, we encourage families, where possible, to choose the event that best matches their athlete’s current stage of development rather than registering for both.

If you’re unsure which event is the best fit for your swimmer, please speak with their coach.

Additional information regarding volunteer job sign-up will be shared in the near future. Please stay tuned for updates.
