This meet is open to athletes who have met Edmonton Open Qualifying times and are 12+ years in age.

Team travel is an exciting and valuable experience for our athletes, helping them grow in independence, responsibility, and team bonding. To ensure the safety, organization, and success of each trip, please carefully review the following expectations and procedures.

Age Eligibility & Parent Travel

Team travel is restricted to athletes aged 12 and older. Athletes under 12 years of age must travel with and stay with a parent or legal guardian.

In the event of an athlete under 12: WGB will coordinate with families of under-12 athletes to ensure parents stay in the same hotel and are included in team meals and activities.

For athletes aged 12 and older, this is an athlete-only travel experience. Parents are not permitted to stay in team accommodations or travel with the team.

Flights & Air Travel

Parents/guardians are responsible for booking their athlete’s flights. To help coordinate group travel and ensure the team arrives and departs together as smoothly as possible, specific flight details (airports and recommended times) will be announced by WGB prior to booking. Families must wait for this communication before purchasing flights.

Hotels & Accommodations

WGB will book all athlete hotel accommodations on behalf of the team. Room assignments will be organized based on the athletes attending and supervised by traveling staff. Athletes are required to stay in team-arranged accommodations unless otherwise approved in advance by the traveling coach.

Meals & Nutrition

All athlete meals and snacks will be purchased and coordinated on behalf of the team. A designated chaperone will manage grocery shopping and the planning and coordination of meals and snacks to ensure athletes are properly fueled throughout the trip.

Ground Transportation

Ground transportation during the trip will be fully coordinated by the traveling coach(es) and chaperone, including transportation between the airport, hotel, training/competition venues, and team activities.

Parents as Spectators

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend competitions as spectators; however, they must arrange their own accommodations. Athletes are not permitted to leave team housing, meals, or activities to visit with parents unless there is clear communication and advance approval from the traveling coach.

Team Travel Consent Form

A Team Travel Consent Form must be completed and submitted to the chaperone or traveling coach prior to departure. Athletes who do not have a completed form on file will not be permitted to travel.

Code of Conduct

All athletes are subject to the WGB Code of Conduct at all times during team travel. This includes a strict zero-tolerance policy for drugs, alcohol, and vaping. Any violation of the Code of Conduct may result in immediate disciplinary action, including removal from the trip at the family’s expense.
